~Congrats to Sister Cities on 25 Years~
Reception for the 25th Anniversary of Sister Cities on June 9th from 7-9 at Court of Appeals Pub
Bob Reeder will be playing for the Irish Reception Honoring the 25th Anniversary of Shawnee's Sister City program. He will be playing from 8PM until midnight June 9th at Court of Appeals.
In early 1983, the Shawnee Chamber of commerce and the Shawnee Historical Society sought the City's support of the Sister City Program. At that time, 12 other cities in Kansas were participating in the Sister City Program.
The Sister City program was created in an effort to increase international understanding by encouraging relationships between communities in different parts of the world.
The City of Shawnee now has three sister cities:
- Pittem Belgium Established 1984
- Listowel Ireland Established 1985
- Erfurt Germany Established 1993
